To me faith means you what you have in hope for.
What do you hope for?
I have faith in The Lord.
I know he keeps all his promises
Most people depend on alcohol, drugs, or sex.
-Will those things make you keep the promises you have made?
No you will more than likely forget what you have done the time you made those promises.
-Will they get you through the problems you are going through?
No, because as soon as the drugs and alcohol wear off, you will remember why you are hurting. The 5 mintues of plessure, no. As soon as that is done, you wont have something to get your mind off your problems.
-Will they give you words of encourgement?
No, because those things can't talk.
How can you answer yes to all these questions?
By having faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
He will give you all the encourging words you need. Will he keep those promises? Ofcourse, us humans may not be perfect, but God sure is! He tells us that once we are saved we are his, he will never leave you or forsake you. That is true. Once you are saved, hes yours. forever. No matter what sins you may commit. Jesus is the most forgivable person. The other question was, will it geet you through your problems? Yes, You can pray and hope for better things, Jesus will always be a help to you. Cry unto the Lord and your blessings will be recieved.
